Timing Update

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Hello soon to be WakeMaters,

Updates:

1) Wristbands – We just got the final expedited quote from our manufacturer. We had to pay a bit more, but we will be able to get the first mass run of wristbands on 9/7.

2) Final run of boards – We will be sending the final boards out to be fabricated this week. We will have them fabricated in accordance with the wristband arrival on 9/7.

3) Apple Certification – We will be submitting for certification this week, meaning this will also line up with the 9/7 date.

Once we have all the materials on hand it should take less than a week to assemble everything and then we will begin shipping. We will continue keep you posted on the progress of these remaining steps.

Order Completion Process:

We will send a pre-filled order form to the email you registered with BEFORE your order ships. You must confirm your order – it will NOT be processed automatically.

You have the option to change any shipping or billing info that needs to be updated at that time. You will also need to specify your phone type. If we do not receive a completed order from you in 2 weeks we will assume you do not want to complete your order and we will move the next person in the queue. However, if we do hear from you after that you will keep your place at the front of the line.

The price charged to you will be $50. This is because anyone who pre-ordered through Google has NOT been charged $5 (and never will be) and anyone who pre-ordered through PayPal has been refunded. Shipping via USPS will be free for orders before April 1st, with the option to upgrade to Fed-Ex shipping (faster and with a tracking number) for a reduced rate. Orders placed after April 1st will be shipped by Fed-Ex.

Final Wristbands

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

The following is a photo shoot of the final wristbands. Other than the obvious color and logo change (which we are very happy with), there are a few minor changes here that together make a difference. The elastic is much more stretchy, making the wristband much more comfortable. The stitching has been slightly adjusted to look and feel better, too. While we aren’t thrilled with the wrinkling around the edges, it has no effect on the comfort of the wristband.

Overall the wristband is very comfortable and we are extremely happy with the final product. It hides the electronics well and it’s very difficult to tell they are inside during normal wear. It’s like wearing a microfiber pillow! ;)

As seen in the bottom left picture, you do not need to remove the electronics from the wristband to turn the unit on or off or to charge it. Just bend the wristband a bit (or turn it inside out as in the picture) to perform these functions.

We are still waiting on an expedited timeline from the manufacturer, but the order is being placed and we will update you when we know more.

Hardware update

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Just wanted to give everyone an update. We received the new assembled PCBs today and everything works great! This is very exciting for our us, as it means we now all the components for our production build. We will be placing the PCB order on Monday and will be building our production run by the end of the month (to coincide with the wristband arrival). In the meantime (next week), we will be building up 75-100 WakeMates for Blackberry/Android phone models. We will begin shipping these units to pre-order customers with the option to upgrade their wristband (free of charge) when the production wristbands are done.

Thanks everyone for your patience and support — We really appreciate it and can’t wait to get you your WakeMate!

PayPal refunds complete

Friday, August 6th, 2010

The PayPal refund mentioned in our last post has gone through. The refund was a formality that PayPal required and has in no way affected WakeMate orders for those who originally pre-ordered through PayPal. Your order and place in the queue remain the same.
